# Documentation MCP server

> Connect AI assistants to sajn documentation using the Model Context Protocol

<Note>
  Looking to debug your integration (API logs, webhook deliveries) or act on your live workspace data? That's the separate [sajn MCP server](/ai/workspace-mcp) at `https://app.sajn.se/api/mcp` — this page covers the **read-only documentation** MCP only.
</Note>

The documentation MCP server lets an AI assistant search and read the sajn docs while it works, so its answers follow the current docs instead of a web search.

## What is MCP?

MCP is an open protocol that standardizes how AI applications connect to external data sources. When you connect an AI assistant to sajn's MCP server, it can:

* Search the sajn docs during a conversation
* Access the latest API reference and guides
* Provide accurate answers about sajn features and integration

## Server URL

```text theme={null}
https://docs.sajn.se/mcp
```

## Set up your client

    ### Claude Desktop

    1. Open Claude Desktop
    2. Go to **Settings** > **Connectors**
    3. Click **Add Connector**
    4. Enter the following details:
       * **Name**: sajn Docs
       * **URL**: `https://docs.sajn.se/mcp`
    5. Click **Save**

    Claude searches the sajn docs when you ask a question such as "How do I create a document in sajn?"

  <Tab title="Claude Code">
    ### Claude Code (CLI)

    Add the MCP server using the CLI:

    ```bash theme={null}
    claude mcp add --transport http sajn-docs https://docs.sajn.se/mcp
    ```

    Verify it's connected:

    ```bash theme={null}
    claude mcp list
    ```

    Claude Code searches the sajn docs when you ask it about sajn.

    1. Open the Command Palette (`Cmd+Shift+P` on Mac, `Ctrl+Shift+P` on Windows/Linux)
    2. Search for **Cursor Settings: Open MCP Config**
    3. Add the sajn MCP server to your configuration:

    ```json theme={null}
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "sajn-docs": {
          "url": "https://docs.sajn.se/mcp"
        }
      }
    }
    ```

    4. Save the file and restart Cursor

    Cursor's AI features can read the sajn docs.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="VS Code">
    ### VS Code (Copilot)

    1. Create or open `.vscode/mcp.json` in your project root
    2. Add the sajn MCP server:

    ```json theme={null}
    {
      "servers": {
        "sajn-docs": {
          "type": "http",
          "url": "https://docs.sajn.se/mcp"
        }
      }
    }
    ```

    ### Windsurf

    1. Open Windsurf Settings
    2. Navigate to **Cascade** > **MCP Servers**
    3. Click **Add Server**

## Usage tips

After you connect the server, ask your assistant questions about sajn, such as the following:

* "How do I authenticate with the sajn API?"
* "Show me how to create a document with multiple parties"
* "What webhook events does sajn support?"
* "How do I embed the signing experience in my app?"

<Tip>
  For best results, mention "sajn" in your question so the AI knows to search the sajn documentation specifically.
</Tip>

  <Accordion title="MCP server not responding">
    * Verify the URL is correct: `https://docs.sajn.se/mcp`
    * Check your internet connection
    * Try disconnecting and reconnecting the server
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="AI not using sajn documentation">
    * Make sure to mention "sajn" in your questions
    * Verify the MCP server is listed as connected in your client's settings
    * Restart your AI client after adding the MCP server

  <Accordion title="Outdated information">
    The MCP server always serves the latest documentation. If you're seeing outdated info, the AI might be using its training data instead. Try being more specific: "Search sajn docs for..."
